Synchronica
Synchronica is one of the world’s leading developers of award-winning consumer mobile email and synchronisation solutions for mobile operators, device manufacturers and service providers. Its headquarters have been based in Tunbridge Wells since 2006, with regional offices in Hong Kong, Dubai, and the US and mobile operator customers as far a-field as the Caribbean, Africa and the Middle East.
As much of Synchronica’s business is in emerging markets, it was vital to have access to good transport links. Tunbridge Well’s proximity to London and international airports such as Gatwick, was a key factor in attracting the company to Kent.
Synchronica investigated several locations across the South East, before making the decision to move to Tunbridge Wells. Nicole Meissner, CMO of Synchronica, said: “To continue to develop and grow, it is vital that Synchronica attracts the very best people, and we needed to be located somewhere where we would be able to achieve this. When we were searching for new headquarters, Tunbridge Wells presented itself as a very attractive option – it is easily commutable from London, less than an hour by train.
“For employees that have joined us from other parts of Britain and from overseas, it is a great place to live, with a very high quality of life. Local facilities, such as the schools, are superb, and it is a safe and friendly place for our employees to raise their families.”
“Synchronica is now focused on targeting emerging markets, where we believe consumer mobile email has the most potential for mass-market appeal. These are exciting times for the company, and we are looking forward to further expanding our operations here in Tunbridge Wells and helping to play an even greater role in the local economy, with the help of Locate in Kent.”
Synchronica has engaged in several strategic acquisitions, including the intellectual property of Weblicon Technologies and GoodServer, all of whom were key players in the development of innovative telecommunications solutions. With the recent acquisition of one of Synchronica’s main competitors, AxisMobile in August 2008, it is now poised for considerable growth and is set to become one of Kent’s leading IT companies.
