Business grant and relocation in Kent news
Hunter Off-site Ltd expands in Kent
Hunter Off-Site Ltd, the UK’s most advanced sustainable timber-frame volumetric housing manufacturer, has expanded within Kent. Hunter’s relocation to a 30,000 sq ft premises in Aylesford, Kent has led to the creation of 20 new jobs, with a view to doubling this in the coming year.
Hunter Off-Site Ltd manufactures fully completed volumetric timber frame homes; they are popular for a number of reasons including the fact they guarantee consistency and meet all energy efficient standards. Modules are fully fitted out in the Aylesford facility prior to site delivery, where they are then ready for the external skin and roof structure.
The company’s units comply with the government’s Code for Sustainable Homes, which requires all homes built from May 2008 to meet certain standards of energy efficiency. Hunter’s system delivers in all the right categories such as efficient water usage and energy consumption. It also offers a cost effective solution for the move towards zero carbon, meeting the government’s Carbon Reduction Commitment - the UK’s mandatory climate change and energy saving scheme.
Kent’s investment promotion agency, Locate in Kent, offers assistance and advice to companies looking to locate or expand in the county and has helped Hunter Off-Site Ltd to identify new property options.
Russell Edmondson, Managing Director of Hunter Off-Site Ltd, said: “We noticed that as the business grew we were meeting the government’s requirements to manufacture sustainable homes. We supply to contractors and housing associations throughout the country; they are heavily focused on meeting the government’s energy efficiency initiatives. Kent is a perfect location with its excellent high speed train and road links and we are pleased to have created 20 new jobs for local residents.”
Paul Wookey, Chief Executive of Locate in Kent, commented: “We are delighted that such an innovative company has chosen to expand in Kent. The economic climate has proved challenging for the construction and manufacturing industries, but the expansion of Hunter Off-Site Ltd indicates sustainable building is of growing importance especially as companies look to deliver on the government’s energy efficiency objectives.”
