Business grant and relocation in Kent news

Go green and save IT costs

Wednesday 20th January 2010

Kent-based IT specialist ADA Technology Services will be running a series of free seminars to help businesses realise the benefits of green IT.

Each Green IT seminar will outline the practical steps mid-size companies can take to dramatically reduce the amount of power their IT infrastructures use.

Other benefits include reduced operating costs and improved disaster recovery capabilities.

Roger Woodcock, who heads up ADA’s Kent office in Kings Hill, said “ADA takes its position as an influencer in the green IT solutions arena very seriously.

"These interactive workshops will give Kent-based organisations the opportunity to learn from live virtualisation projects and to meet organisations who have already made the move to either server or desktop virtualisation infrastructures."
Mr Woodcock added: “Kent-based organisations can learn from ADA’s own use of virtual thin client desktop computers.

"We have enjoyed low power usage and reduced operational overheads now for five years.

"Furthermore, our virtualised infrastructure made the relocation of ADA’s Kent office from Canterbury to West Malling very straightforward.

"Run on a virtualised desktop VMware platform, the process of moving offices was greatly simplified because all data was held and backed up centrally at ADA’s primary data centre in Sussex.”

The first of these half-day Green IT seminars will take place on February 25 at the Capital Enterprise Centre in West Malling.
Each session will focus on building a business case for the acquisition of green technology from proof of concept to a formal virtualisation assessment.

The benefits of VMware’s desktop virtualisation platform (VMware View 4.0) and RES Software’s user workspace management tools (RES PowerFuse & RES Wisdom) will be discussed.

The agenda will also set aside time to compare virtualised SAN products from Dell EqualLogic, HP LeftHand and NetApp.
Supported by a range of vendor-approved finance options, ADA hopes that companies throughout the UK will be able to realise both the environmental and the cost benefits associated with green IT investment.

Payment over time options allow organisations to significantly reduce their initial capital expenditure.

Consequently, ADA has helped numerous companies move to a fully virtualised environment long before budgeted funds become available.

To ensure each participant receives the maximum benefit, attendance at each event will be strictly limited to 20 delegates. To reserve your place, phone 01444 232 000 or email enquiries@ADA.co.uk
