The company, which was acquired in 2012 by Cosan - one of Brazil’s largest oil producers - manufactures, markets and distributes lubricating motor oils, car care products and associated seasonal and industrial chemicals for the UK and over 40 international markets. It employs more than 200 staff globally.
In 2002, Locate in Kent helped Comma Oil access additional finances which allowed them to build a new access road to facilitate the expansion of their site near Gravesend.
Since then the company has flourished in the county and in 2014 it moved its executive and commercial departments to Kings Hill, West Malling, to accommodate future growth. Its manufacturing and customer services operations remain in Gravesend.
“With major investment from our shareholder parent company, Cosan S.A. of São Paulo, Brazil, we are rapidly extending Comma’s global reach, developing new markets for our products throughout Europe, Asia Pacific and China,” said Comma spokesperson Mike Bewsey.
“We needed a great deal more space than was available to us on the Gravesend site to accommodate planned future growth in all departments, while sustaining the industry-leading levels of customer service and marketing support for which Comma is renowned.
“Kings Hill was a perfect choice for us as it has excellent road and rail connections, providing easy access for our international visitors and sales teams and is also close to our Gravesend plant.”
