The company has grown its space from 2,500 sqft to 5,400 sqft at its Kent facilities on the 500-acre parkland estate owned by East Malling Trust, the UK’s largest independent funder of horticultural research.
Commenting on the company’s recent expansion Dr Carlos Fear, director of plant breeding and variety development of Driscoll's Genetics, said:
“East Malling provided our company with an ideal place for our research function.
“Not only is it an easy gateway for travel to the rest of Europe, but East Malling Research provides the facilities we require such as laboratories, offices, glasshouses and a site for field trials.”
Driscoll’s Genetics was advised on its expansion by Smiths Gore, the Kings Hill-based chartered surveyors and property consultants who manage East Malling Trust’s property portfolio.
As well as Driscoll’s Genetics, the estate is home to the scientific work undertaken at East Malling Research; English Apples and Pears, the organisation which champions UK growers; and Evogro, the high-tech plant growing equipment company.
