The company specialises in the commercial application of Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) technology, which uses an advanced laser scanner to see into tissue with an unprecedented image resolution and quality of image.
Founded in 2006 by five experts in laser scanning, the company set about developing, building, testing and securing regulatory clearance for the use of their VivoSight OCT in Europe and USA.
Having outgrown its first home in Orpington, the management set about looking for new premises and worked with the team at Locate in Kent, to select a new location at Eclipse Park, near Junction 7 off the M20 at Maidstone.
The new offices not only offer the right quality of image for the growing med-tech device company, but are also in walking distance of the Kent Institute of Medicine & Surgery (KIMS) and planned Maidstone Medical Campus. A hotel next door means the new offices are also well located to host customers.
The potential for the company’s growth was recently recognised when its bid for a £600,000 interest-free loan from Escalate, the Regional Growth fund managed by Kent County Council, was approved after working with High-Growth Kent.
Michelson Diagnostics’ team includes representatives in Germany and the US, with the Kent headquarters being responsible for management, administration, and research, development and engineering.
VivoSight scanners are used in five European countries, as well as USA, Australia and Brazil, and more than 8,000 patients have been scanned in order to make a clinical decision.
