Trenport Investments are due to submit a planning application this summer for 260 homes to the north of Teynham.
The company aims to build the development, which also includes employment space and sports pitches, on nearly 75 acres of land at Frognal Lane, between Sittingbourne and Faversham.
The developer, which owns more than 50 acres of the site, also plans to create a new access road to the A2. The scheme is due to be broken down so that;
It is expected that an outline planning application for the development should be submitted by the end of August, and will supercede any previous proposals for the area. The scheme is likely to be approved as it is on land allocated for housing and employment in Swale Borough Council’s draft Local Plan.
Trenport has been promoting the development of Frognal Lane for over 10 years, and are currently working on the £50 million Peters Village development at Wouldham, near Rochester, which includes the construction of a new bridge over the River Medway.
The developers have expressed to Swale Borough Council that the housing “would be designed to reflect the Kentish vernacular style, rather than the suburban style of recent developments in the village, which are not locally distinctive”.
Trenport have also stated that they will “assist with funding improvements” to Teynham’s village centre “to manage traffic, and improve its appearance and the environment for pedestrians”.
