Innovative use of solar technology could lead to major UK award for Green Gate access systems

A revolutionary approach to securing worksites has Green Gate Access Systems on the map for the highways and construction sectors with the Maidstone company shortlisted for two major awards.

Green Gate Access Systems developed its SOSEC range of products to answer a growing need to provide public safety and work site security, where power provision is not practical, but security and safety demands are high.

The solar powered product offers mobility, durability and flexibility in a single easy-to-deliver platform that can be adapted to suit work site demands. It has already proved a hit with new and existing clients, including Keir Living and Taylor Wimpey, who have used the system on 40 UK sites to date.

A partnership with Detling based Highway Care, has seen the product adapted for the highways sector, with a trial launched this month on the M23.  It marks the first-time solar technology has been used this way on the UK motorway network.

The SOSEC product range has been shortlisted in two major awards, including Commercial Innovation of the Year at the Construction New Awards 2017. The winner will be unveiled at an awards ceremony taking place on Thursday, 13 July.

Neil Sampson, Managing Director of Green Gate Access Systems has also been named a finalist in the Entrepreneur of the Year category of the Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce, Chamber Business Awards.  The winner will be announced at a gala dinner event being held in Canterbury on Thursday, 30 March.

“Twelve months ago, we were facing ruin following a fire at a neighbouring building, but instead of disaster, we’ve gone on to enjoy our most successful year yet. It’s been quite a turnaround for us.

“The rollout of our SOSEC product has played a major part in that success and it’s great to see that potential of the system we’ve developed as a team getting recognised both in Kent and the wider construction and highways industry.

“It’s a fantastic start to the year for us as we settle into our new home in Boughton Monchelsea, where we now have more room to not only meet demand, but to create more jobs in the months and years ahead.

Green Gate Access Systems moved into its new home last month, a space that is six times the size of their previous home on the Parkwood Industrial Estate on Bircholt Road, Maidstone.

The new space will support future expansion with more room for production and storage, plus new staff training facilities and a product showroom.  Staff will also be able to keep fit between jobs by using the new on-site gym.

The success for the company has been reinforced by several awards nominations, of late, with both SOSEC and Managing Director, Neil Sampson, being announced as finalists in some prestigious categories.
