Start up company wins office space at Discovery Park, Sandwich

A start up creative agency based in Deal, called Howell & Hicks, is celebrating after winning six months free office space in Discovery Park’s Start Up Zone.

The donation of office space was won in a prize draw at the recent Kent 2020 Vision Start Up Live event, where pre-registered visitors were entered into a draw to win a Kickstart prize package worth over £5,000 at the science and technology park.

The winning business, owned by Jen Howell and Linda Broom, moved to the park on 2nd March. They previously worked from home offices in nearby Deal and Folkestone.

Jen Howell, director of Howell & Hicks, said, “We’ve been to the park a few times before and were impressed by the tenants and facilities on site, so naturally we were delighted when we found out we’d won an office there. We have already met a few of the tenants so we know that we are joining a good network of businesses.”

Linda Broom, creative director of Howell & Hicks, added, “We’re both excited to be moving in. Having an office at Discovery Park is going to be a perfect addition to our already flexible working environment because we can work at home and in a professional setting too. We have the best of both worlds!”

Lauren Moore, facilities coordinator at Discovery Park, said, “We’re looking forward to welcoming Howell & Hicks to the park. It’s great to see a home-based business expand into our professional offices with a great support network, as it will give them the opportunity to work alongside other tenants.

“Kent 2020 Vision Start-up Live is a great way to support start-up businesses and give them the tools they need to grow, so we’re really pleased to be a part of it.”
Discovery Park plans to donate a similar prize as part of this year’s Kickstart prize at the Kent 2020 Vision Start-up Live, which will take place on 20th October 2015.
