Furley Page launches undergraduates work placement initiative

Locate in Kent partner Furley Page Solicitors is launching a new work placement initiative to offer enthusiastic university students their first step into a legal career.

Around eight undergraduates will be given the opportunity to take part in a one-week placement this summer, spending time in each of the following teams - dispute resolution, personal injury, private client and real estate. Throughout this time they will be partnered by current trainees at the firm who will act as ‘buddies’ and answer any questions.

The firm’s training principal, partner and personal injury specialist, Neille Ryan, says: “This is a great opportunity for undergraduates looking to pursue a career in law to get a real insight into the workings of a large regional firm of solicitors.

“Furley Page is one of the top law firms in Kent and the South East of England and is listed in The Lawyer Top 200. Our expertise and client service is also acknowledged by respected guides The Legal 500 and Chambers UK.

“We take great pride in providing excellent training and experience because we firmly believe our success lies in the quality of the staff we employ and that their training and development is key to our future growth.

“We aim to have well motivated staff and offer them a fantastic work-life balance. That’s why many of our trainees choose to stay with the firm once they have qualified.”

Those interested in the summer work placements need to be client-focused, commercially aware undergraduate students who have completed at least the first year of their degree, or graduates who have been awarded a 2:1 as a minimum.

These summer work placements are in addition to the firm’s annual trainee solicitor recruitment programme. Every year Furley Page recruits two trainees who are able to work in various teams, such as corporate, dispute resolution, employment, family and personal injury, private client, real estate and vulnerable client. The trainees are able to gain a wide range of knowledge to develop their professional skills and provide them with the ideal experience of a career in law.

The deadline for applications for the summer work placements is Thursday April 30 and the closing date for this year’s trainee solicitor programme is July 31. For more information and to download the Furley Page graduate application form, visit the careers section at
