Kent charity Strode Park Foundation has enjoyed a £5,000 boost to its finances thanks to the Furley Page Foundation, the charitable organisation set up by leading south east law firm Furley Page.

The Furley Page Foundation chose Strode Park as its charity of the year in 2016 and big-hearted staff at the law firm took part in a number of fundraising activities which led to nearly £2,000 being collected. This was increased to £5,000 by the Furley Page Foundation.

The Furley Page Foundation manages the law firm’s social responsibility programmes, which include raising funds for good causes and charities that work for the benefit of people across Kent. Each year the Foundation’s Board of Trustees, made up of Partners and elected staff representatives, decide how funds raised will be distributed and staff nominate a main charity which is supported by fundraising activities.

Furley Page Senior Partner Peter Hawkes paid tribute to all the staff who dedicated their time and effort to organise fundraising events. “Strode Park celebrated its 70th anniversary in 2016 and I’m delighted we have been able to help the charity with its inspirational work caring for people with disabilities,” said Peter.

Strode Park Foundation is one of Kent’s leading providers of specialist care and leisure services for children and adults with disabilities. Launched in 1946, it also provides training and support to young adults with physical or learning disabilities to enable them to lead a more independent lifestyle.

The majority of its adult services are situated in 14 acres of beautiful grounds at Strode Park in the village of Herne. Strode Park Foundation merged with Canterbury charity, Kent Kids Miles of Smiles in 2011 and its services now extend to children with disabilities located at a separate site on Stodmarsh Road near Canterbury.
