Award-winning domestic heating specialist Swale Heating is expanding and is looking to recruit more than 30 staff to help it grow its business.

Swale Heating, which is the largest independently-owned heating company in the South East, has a workforce of more than 450 operating across London and the Home Counties, East Anglia and the Midlands. The firm prides itself on attracting and retaining the very best staff, with one employee’s story demonstrating why a fulfilling career with Swale Heating can be for life…

Stan Moore is a 69-year-old consultant. He knows the company inside out, which is no surprise when you learn that he was the first employee taken on by the firm’s founder Ian Pierson in 1972.

“I carried out Swale Heating’s first-ever job – I installed a central heating system in a house on the Isle of Sheppey. I still drive past it today and it brings back memories of where it all began for us,” says Stan, who was educated at Warren Wood Secondary School in Rochester before completing a five-year apprenticeship as a heating engineer.

As Swale Heating grew, Stan held a variety of roles, including contracts manager and installation engineer supervisor.

“As a supervisor I was a hard taskmaster and the engineers knew that I expected perfection when it came to customer service. When Ian and I started out our emphasis was on providing a top quality installation service from start to finish. Ian is a stickler for putting the customer first and that is still the case today.”

Stan, who lives in Aylesford and has two daughters and five grandchildren, now puts his wealth of experience and knowledge to good use as a consultant, meeting customers and giving them best advice on what heating systems meet their needs.

“Swale Heating has been my life and certainly in the early days I probably spent more time helping to get it established than I spent with my own family. I’m very proud of the company and what it has achieved. In my opinion it has grown to become the best in the business and I’d like to think I have played my part in that,” adds Stan.

Swale Heating has launched a recruitment drive for around 30 experienced installation and service engineers, electricians, plumbers, accounts and administration staff to cope with an upsurge in business. The firm provides services to domestic heating customers in more than 125,000 homes, as well as over 36 housing associations and local authorities.

The firm, which celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2012, has installed more than a quarter of a million boilers since 1972, and is expanding across the UK. Originally a dominant player in Kent and South East London, Swale Heating has made strides in establishing itself across the Home Counties, East Anglia and the Midlands.

The company is currently running a hugely-successful promotion in London, led by an extensive TV advertising campaign. It’s offering householders an unrivalled deal on top quality Vaillant boilers, all backed with a seven-year warranty.

Matthew added: “Last year alone Swale Heating helped homes and businesses in the region save £2.25 million on their heating bills. Now we need more highly talented and dedicated staff to help us build on that success.”
