The positive impact that growth in Ashford would have on the area’s business community has been given a resounding thumbs up in a survey of visitors to the recent Kent B2B Exhibition held at the Ashford International Hotel.

A resounding 95 per cent of those who responded to the survey, conducted by Crowe Clark Whitehill, the national audit, tax and advisory firm with offices in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells while attending the Ashford based exhibition, agreed that the growth of Ashford was positive.

Darren Rigden, Partner at Crowe Clark Whitehill, said: “It is refreshing to see how Ashford has adopted a positive approach to growth which has helped secure the proposed expansion of the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet, plans for Ashford College to provide further education and training locally, and new commercial premises for business near the international station.

“With the prospect of growth comes the need for businesses to make sure they have their financial and tax management in good order, and over recent months we have seen a rise in enquiries from Ashford-based businesses asking us to ensure this.

The results of the survey were welcomed by Ashford Borough Council leader Cllr Gerry Clarkson, who said: “This is another resounding endorsement from the business community that they believe in the direction we are taking and follows on from a survey last year which named Ashford as the number one business location in Kent.

“We have ambitious plans for the future to unlock major opportunities, deliver new jobs, housing, retail and cultural facilities. Being just 38 minutes from London, with 1.7million employees based within a 60-minute drive of the town and a talented workforce available at a cost of 28% less than in the capital, Ashford continues to be a big draw.

“The message is clear – Ashford is going places and now is the time to get involved.”
