With a strong belief in what the district offers to potential developers and investors, and with a Local Plan in place, Dover has returned from MIPIM UK in buoyant mood.

The district’s Invest in Dover team co-hosted a stand at the UK's premier property and real estate investment exhibition at London Olympia last week, and welcomed a number of Ministers, as well as potential investors, developers

Dover District Council was joined by Discovery Park and the Port of Dover, under the banner of the "Enterprise Coast" at MIPIM UK.

Among those who visiting the stand during the three day exhibition was the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government (DCLG), the Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, who praised the public-private approach to inward investment. Marcus Jones MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at DCLG, also visited the stand.

Tony O'Brien, Development Director of Travelodge UK, a key speaker at the event spent time on the stand and is delighted with the progress on the St James site, which will be the company’s first Dover hotel when it opens in 2016. Hotel and leisure investors also took a strong interest in the Dover Western Docks Revival project being promoted by the Port of Dover.

Major city and international financial institutions were out in force at MIPIM UK also with many expressing strong interest in Dover.  Among the visitors was Nick Cooper, Deputy Chairman of Palmer Capital, one of the main shareholders in Discovery Park.

Given the council is targeted with delivering 14,000 new homes planned by 2031, it was not surprising the stand also saw strong interest from residential property developers in key sites, including Connaught Barracks, Dover Waterfront, and Whitfield.
