Leading South East property developer, Quinn Estates has shown its support to local homeless charity, Porchlight, by donating £1000 to its emergency appeal.
When the coronavirus crisis began, Porchlight helped place 130 homeless people into emergency accommodation. It is now making sure that people have everything needed to stay safe, get the necessary support and don’t have to return to the streets when this crisis is over. The charity is also working with food banks to deliver parcels to struggling families and helping people apply for housing benefit and other forms of financial aid.
The money that Quinn Estates has donated could help pay for medicine for someone in need, cover the cost of a rise in calls to the Porchlight helpline or help provide PPE for staff. It could also help support homeless people who’ve been given temporary shelter but have nowhere to live when the crisis is over.
Mark Quinn, CEO and Chairman of Quinn Estates, said: “There has never been a more important time to step up and support the vulnerable people within our communities. I have long admired the work Porchlight does working with those facing homelessness in Kent. The emergency appeal was identified by members of my team as a community initiative that we should back, and I am pleased to be able to make that happen. Over the coming months we will also be providing some advice and guidance to their future strategy.”
Jo Skelton, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Porchlight, said: “I’d like to say a huge thank you to Mark and the team for their generous donation, which will make a real difference to the people we help. We are pleased to be building a relationship with Quinn Estates and will continue to work together in the months to come.”
