Creative Folkestone is an independent arts charity dedicated to the regeneration of Folkestone through creative activity. Working with the people of Folkestone, partners and other stakeholders the foundation are transforming the town.
Over the last 15 years Folkestone has gone from sleepy seaside town to a creative hub, attracting many people from London who aren’t just moving down for the sea air, but are also relocating their businesses to the Kent. This transformation is mainly due to the hard work Creative Folkesone have put into the town, organising events such at the Triennial, Book Festival and Artworks – the towns own permanent art collection.
Having worked in London, CEO of Creative Folkestone, Alastair Upton is passionate about Folkestone and the regeneration of the town. “I moved here with my family six years ago and believe it is a fantastic place to live and work. The county has so much to offer a business and its employees. Some of the people who live here are currently making the living by going up to London and coming back daily. What that means, if you move here with your business there are some really talented people who are currently commuting to London, and I am sure they would like to live and work in the county.”
