As part of the MedTech Innovation Programme (M-IP), Maidstone Borough Council is working with NCL Technology Ventures to encourage growth and expansion of medical innovation by offering training programmes to appropriate companies within the South East Local Enterprise Partnership (SELEP) area.
The programme launched yesterday Wednesday 1 July, has been introduced to offer over 150 companies the opportunity to receive specialist training through the M-IP. This has been introduced to help early stage companies with pioneering technologies with the aim of making a significant impact on people’s lives. The training will be free of charge and include all aspects of developing a commercially viable business, from concept through to investment and market entry.
Companies wishing to apply for the training, must be either located within the SELEP covering Kent, Medway, Essex, East Sussex, Southend, and Thurrock or be able to move to the area prior to the programme. Each company will be required to demonstrate that they have a viable technology or service proposition. They can focus on any part of the healthcare market including health, life science and MedTech.
The training programme is scheduled to coincide with the planned opening of the Maidstone Innovation Centre in Autumn 2021, which has been part funded by the European Union Regional Development Fund 2014 – 2020 and has previously received funding from the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.
M-IP has chosen to work with NCL which will be supported by a number of regional and national specialists, including local academic and public health institutions.
NCL Technology Ventures is a specialist health technology investor, with UK offices in both London and Kent. NCL has backed some of the most promising health technology companies and has a wealth of experience in developing market leading businesses. SMEs that complete the M-IP programme will be considered for investment from NCLs Health Technology Fund.
The programme is open for entry from 1st July 2020 on a first come first served basis. Interested companies should contact Graham Hutchins at [email protected]
