Work finally starts on site

Maidstone-based Location 3 Properties Ltd (‘L3P’) is delighted to announce that work has finally commenced on site for its 132,420 sq ft industrial and trade park development, M2CityLink, at Medway City Estate in Rochester. This £24m development was granted planning permission by Medway Council in December 2019 on the site, which previously had planning consents for a Sainsbury’s superstore, a B&Q store and three separate retail park schemes.

Maidstone-based L3P acquired the site from Sainsbury’s, and have pre-sold the development with a major British funding institution that will hold the completed investment.

In addition, L3P are pleased to further announce that they have pre-let 30,000 sq ft of the development to Selco Builders Warehouse for their first branch in the county of Kent.

Construction of what will be the biggest development at Medway City Estate for many years will take a year and L3P have appointed Essex-based Mitchells Design and Construction to undertake the project. Completion is due in September 2021.

The new development features high spec, energy-efficient buildings from 3,740-72,420 sq ft with parking and service yards and direct access from Anthonys Way, at the entrance to Medway City Estate providing fast and easy access to the motorway network and Medway towns.

Managing Director of L3P, Colin Thacker MRICS:

“This development really is a milestone for Medway, bringing much-needed, high-quality industrial and trade counter space to a vacant site that has remained undeveloped for many years. We are truly delighted, after so many false starts, to finally begin work to deliver M2CityLink and provide an opportunity for businesses to trade up to a standard of accommodation not currently available.”
